Review of Christian Dior’s Blooming Bouquet & Versace’s Bright Crystal Perfume
Happy Friday lovelies! It’s almost Easter and Spring has finally arrived. The flowers are blooming, the sun is finally shining, and it’s the perfect time to start net things. To shake things up a bit around here, I’m going to be doing a few more non-fashion reviews. To kick off the new season/new year, I’ve been expanding my horizons from the apparel industry to that of cosmetics. I’ve done so much research on perfumes, makeup brands, women’s skincare, and just about anything I can think of. Its time for me to not just focus solely on the world of clothing, but the magic of the beauty realm as well. I use shoes and fancy dresses to express myself, and I’m discovering how to do the same with lipsticks, nail art, blushes, etc.
So you could definitely imagine my how perfect the timing was when Fragrancenet.com reached out to me asking if I’d be interested in a collaboration. Not just because of my new-found love of perfumes and cosmetics, but also because they’re one of the largest (and one the first) online-retailers of authenticated luxury brand fragrances, gift sets, and aromatherapy. They’ve been in business since 1997, two entire decades now. Heck even my mom has purchased from their site before! Besides their extensive history, they’ve got a wonderfully optimized webpage and carry products of the highest caliber. Gucci, Marc Jacobs, Thierry Mugler, Burberry, nearly every big-name brand you can think of. The products I chose to review is the Christian Dior’s Blooming Bouquet perfume, and Versace’s Bright Crystal gift set. And oh boy do I have a lot to say about these scents!
Item #1: Christian Dior’s Blooming Bouquet
First off let’s talk about the Blooming Bouquet. Since both my real-name and my online name have something to do with flowers, I couldn’t resist trying this little aroma. I’ve always been attracted to floral scents like Marc Jacobs’ Daisy and the Victoria’s Secret Tease Flower Eau de Parfum, so I had a feeling I’d enjoy this. When it comes to the beauty industry, packaging is extremely important. It’s the first thing the customer sees, and largely determines whether they’ll make a purchase. As you can see from the photos, both the box and bottle are exquisite. They both have a a cute pastel pink, and the glass bottle is adorned with a ribbon! Plus there’s a textured design on the bottom to make it more sturdy and of course embellished on top is the unforgettable Christian Dior logo.
But aside from appearances, what is most attractive about the Blooming Bouquet is its soft and gentle fragrance. My problem with many perfumes is that they’re often too over-powering or have only one defining scent (like super vanilla-y or too fruity.) This little gem has a variety of notes. For those of you new to the world of fragrance, notes are the defining characteristics of a perfume. They’re classified into high, middle, and base in order of when they were first applied. Basically what it’s made of, and what it smells like.
Fragrance Notes & Pricing:
Blooming Bouquet’s Notes:
Top note: Sicilian Mandarin
Middle notes: Damask Rose, Pink peonies, Apricot, and Peach
Base: White Musk
Now most people can’t afford to be dropping hundreds of dollars on perfume, and even if they did, who’s to say the price would actually be worth it? But that’s where Fragrancenet comes in. They’ve got prices that are far more affordable than at Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, or Barney’s. When I compared the price of this particular scent to other retailers, this is what I found:
Blooming Bouquet’s Pricing:
$88 at Fragrance
$100 at Neiman
$120 at Saks
So you definitely get your money’s worth with this one! Even if I wasn’t doing this collaboration, I can truly say I would honestly buy this perfume. It’s got the perfect amount of floral and fruit, comes in a beautifully crafted bottle, and lets face it, who can say no to Christian Dior for under $100?
Item #2: Versace’s Bright Crystal
Moving on let’s take a look at the Versace’s Bright Crystal set. When you first receive it, you’ll be delighted to see the adorable pink and gold box it comes in. Like I said about packaging being huge in the beauty world, a large part of the reason I decided to try this item was just because of how pretty the packaging is. (I’m a sucker for present boxes.) Inside this wonderful box isn’t just the perfume, but also a wonderfully soft lotion and delicious smelling shower gel. The lotion has a great texture, and definitely moisturizes my hands better than some other lotions that come in perfume sets. I also liked the shower gel’s texture but I wish it came in a bigger size. Us gals tend to go through shower gels very quickly, it would’ve been a lot better if it came in a larger amount.
Now for the holy grail of perfumes, the Bright Crystal itself. I had tried this fragrance at a friend’s home and ever since then I’ve been enthralled by it. It’s quite the popular scent too, a lot of bloggers have raved about it so no wonder I felt the burning desire to have it. This gorgeous work of art may come in a rather petite bottle but let me tell you, it packs a powerful aroma with musk, blossoms, and exotic fruit. It’s got the most notes of any fragrance I’ve ever seen, 9 in total which go as the following:
Fragrance Notes & Pricing:
Bright Crystal’s Notes:
Top notes: Yuzu, Pomegranate, and Water
Middle notes: Lotus, Magnolia, and Pink Peony
Base: Amber, Musk, and Mahogany
Just like the Blooming Bouquet, Fragrance.net boosts the best price for the Bright Crystal. While the full set with lotion and gel seems to be sold-out everywhere I look, the perfume itself is still a lot more expensive at other retailers:
$79 at Fragrance.com
$86 at Sephora
$130 at Macy’s
So while this scent gets some flack for being over-the-top I found it to be very enjoyable. It’s the ideal aroma for a doing something romantic and sensual with your beloved. Even if you’re single, you’re bound to fall in love with the Bright Crystal for its intoxicating magic.
Overall, I’m extremely satisfied with Fragrancenet.com and their selection of luxury perfumes. Their items are authentic, affordable, and aesthetically appealing. I love both scents for their contrast; the Blooming Bouquet for its gentle day-time scent, and the Bright Crystal for its seductive evening aroma. Just as I like mixing black and pink for variety, I love to have my cosmetic products match the different aspects of who I am. If you’re a high-quality goods connoisseur, a fragrance fanatic, or just someone looking for something to spoil yourself with, you’ve found the right place.
I’ve got exciting news in store so stay tuned 😉 Until next time beauties!
