“Beauty is not meant to be practical, luxury is an inconvenience,” -Novala Takemoto, (author of Kamikaze Girls.) Truly all the most elegant and gorgeous things in life takes effort. The best garments take weeks of construction, the highest-quality food needs hours of preparation, and to be truly beautiful inside and out, we need a lifestyle that fully encompasses the ideals of healthy living. To me, it is of the utmost importance that I surround myself with beautiful things that bring me joy. Including positive people, exciting adventures, and expressing myself creatively via clothing.
The newest addition to my creative arsenal that I call my wardrobe is this exquisite floral gown from Souffle Song’s Ancient Clocks collection, sent to me by Devilinspired. It has everything I find to be gorgeous; flowers, lace, and a luxuriant feeling. If the thought of soft fabrics, pink roses, gold trim, and pearl detailing is appealing to you, read below!
Firstly- Why Soufflé Song?
Those of you who have followed me for a while probably remember my earlier collaboration with Devilinspired, and that I was very happy with the other dress they sent. The other garment was minimalistic but adorable, filled with a bunch of fun miniature details. In contrast this new gown is filled with extravagant and over-the-top characteristics that adds a new flavor to my growing collection of Soufflé Song. I love their designs because they’re not afraid to go outside the box and try new things. Fashion can get repetitive, and all too often I’ve even found myself buying things that look just like other items I own. When I received this dress I was so happy to see it didn’t resemble anything else in my closet. It’s a complete work of art and expertise craftsmanship.
First glancing at this print you can see a plethora of different motifs. Clocks, victorian emblems, and frills that would suit any Rococo princess. When I look for new garments, I always try to find something with lots of special up-close details. I’ve never been a fan of solid pieces, prints are always my go-to.
Along with a beautiful pattern, I love the fabric of this dress. Not only is it chiffon but there’s a nice mix of lace, pearls, and ruffles put into it. Another aspect I like when dressing up is textile variety. Not just in the sense of different textures, but also in their appearance. This gown has a nice sheer neckline without it being too see-through or provocative. Really its amazing all the tiny details that went into it!
Overall, Soufflé Song did a superb job in their Ancient Clocks collection, and I thank Devilinspired for my new obsession with it. Nice to see more English-based sites popping up that ship Taobao brands internationally. It saves the trouble of using a shopping service. I remember when we first collaborated and they only had a couple thousand followers, and now they’re at 18k! If you’re eying a new Lolita dress, a silk blouse, gothic ball gowns, or anything in between, look no further.
Hope you enjoyed these pictures! I’ve got a plethora of new blog posts coming up, so stay tuned!
