Hello dolls! As you may recall from my previous Beauty-themed post, I was very happy with the Versace Bright Crystal and Christian Dior Blooming Bouquet scents that I received from Fragrancenet. They were both exquisite, high quality, had wonderful scents, basically everything you’d expect from luxury brands. Since then I’ve become addicted to perfume world and I wanted to share two more amazing aromas I was sent to review. In this post I’ll be showing the exquisite Jimmy Choo Eau De Parfum and the floral Dolce & Gabbana Rose Excelsa. Scroll below to read this in-depth write-up!
Perfume #1: Jimmy Choo Eau De Parfum
What initially brought this fragrance to my attention was the pink python packaging! Contrary to what you’d expect, I LOVE snakes. I put them in the same class as puppies or cats; the absolutely adorable class. (Plus as we all know pink is my favorite color.) Favorite animal + my most beloved palette = an instant need. Along with a gorgeous box, the bottle is beautiful as well. There’s a lot of texture and a stunning champagne color. Some perfume bottles have a shape that’s way too weird but this one is gorgeous yet sedate, without being boring.
But of course, pretty aesthetics can only go so far in the perfume world. What is far more important is the scent itself. And I’m happy to honestly say that the Eau De Parfum doesn’t disappoint. I’ll admit, it isn’t the most traditionally feminine of aromas but goodness does it pack a mighty punch. It’s a strong patchouli scent that’s both elegant and mature. Not the best suited for a young gal, but a glamorous woman. Think Marilyn Monroe or a younger Celine Dion rather than Taylor Swift or Selena Gomez.
In taking a deeper look at what exactly makes this aroma, here’s what Fragrantica reports:
Top Notes: mandarin orange, pear, and greens
Middle Notes: orchid
Base: patchouli, toffee.
And what’s really nice is the fact that Fragrancenet has some of the best prices for this perfume on the market.
Perfume #2: Dolce & Gabbana Rose Excelsa
Much like the other perfumes in my collection, the Rose Excelsa also has beautiful packaging. The box has a cute black ribbon design on it which contrasts nicely to the pink. But the bottle itself is to die for. Not only does it have the matching ribbon, but it has a rose-shaped cap as well! Out of all the scents I’ve ever had, this bottle is undeniably the most elegant. When I die, please bury me with it.
To go with the floral aesthetics, the perfume itself is also made of flowers. Just like its name, it smells like roses. However in terms of flower scents, I like the Rose Excelsa far more so than other floral perfumes. Many of them get way too heavy, while this one has a tasteful amount of rose and musk. Perfect for a gal who wants to smell sweet/girly without it being overwhelming.
Looking at the full break-down of this scent, we can see it is in-fact more than just a bunch of roses.
Top Notes: Neroli, papaya flower
Middle Notes: Amaryllis, water-lily, narcissus, turkish rose
Base: sandal wood, cashmere wood, musk
In comparing the prices, I’ve found the following:
At the end of the day, selecting a new perfume can tell you a lot about yourself. What you find to be most appealing can show a lot of your own characteristics. For a girly girl like me, I love floral and sweet aromas but someone else might want a tougher unisex scent. Different strokes for different folks, as the saying goes. All in all I’m extremely happy with the Jimmy Choo Eau De Parfum and the Dolce & Gabbana Rose Excelsa. Most importantly I’m very grateful Fragrancenet carries such a variety of different scents. There’s a perfume out there for everyone, you just have to find what works the best for you.
Until next time readers! Got a lot of new posts coming up!! <3
